Get ready for more treacherous fun as we dive into the cunning characters of Excalibur!
Hello Fellow Backstabbers and Blade-Seekers,
This time around, we're pulling back the curtain on two of the game's most impactful character tokens: those with "On Reveal" effects. These special abilities trigger the moment their chip is revealed, immediately shaking up the round.
Understanding how and when to deploy these characters can turn the tide of battle in Excalibur (or, at very least, seriously inconvenience other players)!
These and other Gold Banner Characters are scarce! There is only one of each in Excalibur.
🛡️ GALAHAD (x1): The Noble Protector

Ability: Upon reveal, Galahad allows you to close your fist on one chip from your hand, protecting it from all effects for that round.
Strategic Insight: This powerful defensive maneuver allows you to safeguard a valuable chip (perhaps a red herring, another pivotal chip, or even Excalibur itself!) from the impact of other chips revealed in that round.
Pro Tip: Use Galahad when you suspect chaos is coming - his protection can be the difference between victory and loss.
⚔️ LANCELOT (x1): The Round Wrecker

Ability:Lancelot's reveal causes immediate chaos! All played chips are trashed, and everyone must immediately play a new chip from their hand (without drawing from Avalon).
Strategic Insight: This chip is a powerful reset button, perfect for disrupting opponents' plans. Lancelot trashes everyone's revealed chips, causing chaos and a round reset with the remaining chips.
Pro Tip: Save Lancelot for moments when the game is going badly for you - he's your emergency escape hatch! Or just play it for chaos - we're not your boss.
🎭 Timing is Everything!
Remember: "On Reveal" effects trigger immediately when the chip is shown, before any other effects resolve (or in turn-order if both are played in the same round). This means these characters can:
Interrupt opponent strategies
Create immediate defensive plays
Set up powerful combinations
Turn losing situations into winning ones
Wreak havoc upon the kingdom
The key is reading the table and knowing when to deploy these game-changers!

Now that you know these two powerful "On Reveal" characters, start thinking about:
When to hold them vs. when to reveal them
How to predict when opponents might use them
Don't be too hasty! Playing at pivotal moments is key

Greetings, noble knights and esteemed backstabbers!
We have returned from our perilous journey to Game Con Canada! One might say it was a success, even if we encountered a few minor inconveniences on the road. We brought everyone's favorite Roxley games, including Excalibur!
Yes, the player aid is super amazing. We're glad you noticed!
The real question is what were waluigi and cap talking about?
GIVE ME THE BLADE!
The cackling youngling was vying for the cursed blade - do you think she found it?

⚔️ When Life Imitates Art: A Real Thief Appears!
Speaking of blades and such matters of sharp pointy things, a most unfortunate incident occurred! Someone seemed to take "find Excalibur and cling onto it with all your might" a touch too literally.
Excalibur has a Thief character who's quite good at making things disappear, but we never expected one to show up at our booth! Poof! One of our metal Collector's Edition swords vanished faster than you can say "backstabbery."
While we were disappointed, this did not stop the fun! We borrowed a wooden sword from our Deluxe Edition and continued on our merry way. The irony wasn't lost on us - here we are, teaching people about deception and misdirection, and someone pulled the ultimate sleight of hand on us!
Our cries for help went unanswered 😭
Missed Game Con Canada? Don't worry, next stop is Gen Con! We'll be bringing even more copies... and keeping a closer eye on our metal swords. 👀
